How to use Diggit

Four short lessons for the Diggit phone app. Go one step at a time: tap Next, and the phone shows you where to tap. Then try it on your job.

What’s new

  1. 1Do today's forms in one go
  2. 2Fill a form by talking
  3. 3Fill a form by hand
  4. 4Make Buck yours

1 Do today's forms in one go

One tap starts every form your job still owes today. Buck, the voice helper in the app, walks you through them one after another.

  1. On Home, check the job at the top. Then tap Do all forms.
  2. Buck says what is due and opens the first form.
  3. Hold the mic button and tell him about it. Answer his questions. Say “file it.”
  4. He goes straight to the next form. When the last one is filed, today is done.

All steps

  1. 1On Home, check the job at the top is the one you are on. Then tap Do all forms, just above today's forms.
  2. 2Buck says what is due and opens the first form.
  3. 3Hold the mic button and tell him about it. Answer his questions. Say "file it" when it is right.
  4. 4He goes straight to the next form. When the last one is filed, your paperwork for today is done.

Good to know: Do all forms shows only when a form on your job is due now. Want to leave one for later? Say "skip that one" and Buck moves on.

2 Fill a form by talking

Say what happened in your own words. Buck fills the forms and asks only for what is missing.

  1. Press and hold the round mic button. Talk while you hold. Let go when you finish.
  2. Buck puts each report on its own card. One voice note can fill more than one form.
  3. If he needs something, the card asks. Say the answer, or tap it in.
  4. Say “file it,” or tap Submit. The cards drop into the job’s folder.

All steps

  1. 1Press and hold the round mic button at the bottom of the screen. Talk while you hold. Let go when you finish.
  2. 2Buck puts each report on its own card. One voice note can fill more than one form.
  3. 3If he needs something, the card opens with his question. Say the answer, or tap it in.
  4. 4Say "file it", or tap Submit. The cards drop into the job's folder.

Rather not hold the button? Turn on Open mic: Profile, then Voice agent, then Open mic. Now you tap once and talk. To stop, close the session with the X at the top of the screen. You can also talk over Buck to cut him off.

3 Fill a form by hand

No talking needed. Pick the form and tap in your answers.

  1. On Home, tap New.
  2. Pick the form you need from the list.
  3. Tap Fill it in. (Or tap Talk it through to hand it to Buck.)
  4. Answer each question. Tap Next if there is more, then Save. It shows on Home under Filed today.

All steps

  1. 1On Home, tap New.
  2. 2Pick the form you need from the list.
  3. 3Tap Fill it in. (Tap Talk it through instead to hand it to Buck.)
  4. 4Answer each question. Tap Next if there is more, then Save. It shows on Home under Filed today.

Good to know: A form that is due today is already in your list on Home. Tap it and pick Fill it in. Log the crew's work with the Work performed button next to New. Started a form by voice and want to type? Tap its card to open the whole form.

4 Make Buck yours

Buck keeps short notes about you. Tell him once, and he uses it next time.

  1. Your name. Say “Remember, call me Tito.” Next time, he calls you Tito.
  2. Your language. Talk in Spanish and he answers in Spanish. Tell him how you talk: “Recuerda: soy de Baja, háblame como hablamos allá.”
  3. Your usual truck. Say “Remember, I always drive truck 12.” When a form asks which truck, he offers it.
  4. See what he keeps. Profile, then Voice agent, then What Diggit remembers. Tap the trash can to delete a note.

All steps

  1. 1Your name. Say "Remember, call me Tito." Next time, he calls you Tito.
  2. 2Your language, your way. Talk to him in Spanish and he answers in Spanish. Tell him how you talk: "Recuerda: soy de Baja, háblame como hablamos allá." (Remember: I'm from Baja. Talk to me the way we talk there.) Your reports still file in English for the office.
  3. 3Your usual truck. Say "Remember, I always drive truck 12." When a form asks which truck, he offers truck 12. Say yes and it is filled in.
  4. 4See what he keeps. Go to Profile, then Voice agent, then What Diggit remembers. Tap the trash can to delete a note, or just tell Buck "forget that".

More things worth telling Buck

  • "Remember, the gate code at Riverside is 4412."
  • "Remember, my crew is Luis, Dre and Sam."
  • "Remember, the inspector on the main line is Dana Ruiz."
  • "Remember, we haul spoils to the Route 9 dump site."
  • "Remember, keep it short with me."

Your notes are yours alone. Buck does not keep what Diggit already tracks, like your jobs or how much pipe went in. He reads that fresh every time. You can also type a note in What Diggit remembers, or on the web under Account, then Memory.
